The Morning After: Answering A Few Questions

If any words were to describe yesterday’s outing by the Denver Broncos against the Pittsburgh Steelers, it would be “mixed bag.”

The problem, of course, is the first half was mostly positive while the second half was mostly one we’d like to forget.

I don’t think anyone who is frustrated would feel as bad if it had been a back-and-forth game in which the Steelers happened to get the game-winning drive and the Broncos’ final drive fell short. Instead, we get a “tale of two halves” narrative and we are ready to throw everyone under the bus.

Broncos/Steelers Injury Reports

Feel free to add more as the reports continue to come out, but being out at least two, if not three, safeties is not a good thing in anticipation for facing Ben Roethlisberger.

Meanwhile, the Steelers will be coming in incredibly healthy as far as their current roster goes: nothing but probables, and only DeAngelo Williams was limited in practice on Friday due to an illness.

Raiders at Broncos: The 10 Things I Liked and the 10 Things I Didn’t

Clancy Barone, our offensive line coach, needs to be fired. How can the offensive line not improve over a 3-month period? It’s beyond ridiculous at this point. A tackle sled would’ve performed better. Osweiler’s success in this offense has a mix of the I-Formation, and a mix of quick feet to get away from the line and scramble when necessary. In an earlier post I wrote about Manning, it’s very obvious why this offense struggles. It’s not who is at quarterback; rather, it’s who is protecting the quarterback.

Initial Scouting Notes: Pittsburgh Steelers

INTRODUCTION:

I have decided to take some brief notes while watching film of the Pittsburgh Steelers in an effort to communicate to you what I am seeing as I look at their film for the first time. It is unfinished in a sense, since I have really only viewed three films so far with a rewind here and there. I will watch them some more on Tuesday to get a better idea of the talent of players and the concepts being run. If all goes well with that and I don’t have to work overtime at my temporary winter job, I am thinking about making this like an overview article and then have another article strictly dedicated to game-planning against them. If that is something you’re interested in, please let me know. Broncos Playoff Standings: 2015 Week 15

Did you enjoy the progress made toward the playoffs last week?  I hope you did, because the Broncos are now back to where they were two weeks ago.  You’ll see some familiar goals to what you saw in previous weeks.  But for this week, I’m going to add a good dose of pessimistic scenarios to the mix.  It must be admitted that there is a chance, even if the odds are slim, that the Broncos could see the AFC West slip out of their fingers–or even be eliminated from the playoffs altogether.
