I wanted to go a little more in depth and provide a position by position break down of the community’s projections. I’ll give a brief commentary as well. I think I’m going to do another iteration of this next week. People can either leave their projected roster as is, or they can submit an updated post. I’ll post another link after the game Saturday.

Table Of 2016 Broncos Roster Predictions
Below the fold, this post contains a table of all the players the 11 participants of the 2016 Broncos Predict The Roster disagreed upon.
(Note that I have also indicated practice squad representatives for those of you who mentioned them in your comment. If you did not list a practice squad but would like to, list it in a comment in another thread you see me on (for some reason comments aren’t working here), or email me directly or via the contact form, and I will update the table accordingly.)
Key Roster Battles And Practice Squad Primer
Hello, Bronco fans! Hard to believe that the first game of the season is just two weeks away. Of course, everyone following preseason action is watching some of the battles for roster spots and starting jobs and a few have already made predictions about the final roster.
I’m going to examine some of the most notable battles for starting jobs and roster spots and when I expect head coach Gary Kubiak will make his final decisions.

Ray’s take on predicting the 53-man roster
This is my personal opinion, so take everything with a grain of salt. I don’t feel like writing a long introduction, but I will have additional thoughts at the end, so without further ado:
49ers at Broncos : The 10 Things I Liked and the 10 Things I Didn’t
The 49ers defense looked pretty good. Listen, the game didn’t go as we all wanted, but that’s why we have a preseason. The common topic that is on everyone’s mind is whether we should throw Paxton Lynch into the quarterback conversations. We absolutely should, however, keep in mind that almost all of his snaps were against a majority of players who won’t be on the 53-man roster. I still think he requires a season of grooming under his belt before he can play against a team like the Carolina Panthers.

Mike Klis: Ronnie Hillman’s “Days” May Be “Numbered”
This was an excellent observation made by Klis:
The Broncos have already paid $600,000 in signing and workout bonuses to running back Ronnie Hillman this year, but it would be a surprise if they would pay his remaining $1.4 million salary. Not when that salary is non-guaranteed and not when Hillman has fallen to No. 3 on the depth chart behind C.J. Anderson and Booker with No. 4 tailback Kapri Bibbs continuing to play well.
Hillman had a 21-yard kickoff return midway through the fourth quarter Saturday. While returning would enhance his value, it’s not always a good sign for an established veteran to play special teams in the fourth quarter of a preseason game.
UPDATE (7:00 PM MT) Klis has now reported that while Hillman has already been paid a $100,000 signing bonus and $100,000 workout bonus, the remaining $400,000 in guaranteed base salary contains offset language:
But if he’s released and another team signs him for the $760,000 minimum, the Broncos would not have to pay him the $400,000.

Broncos Sign Henry Melton
Broncos reached agreement with former Bears and Cowboys DE Henry Melton.

Melton will be poised to help fill the void left by losing Vance Walker to a season-ending ACL tear.
Predict the Broncos roster
As discussed, I thought it’d be fun to do a predict the Broncos roster competition.
Because I want to see what people’s sentiment is after last night’s game, I’m going to leave this open until Tuesday night. Then I’ll post how often each player is picked, so we’ll be able to get a feel for who people think will or won’t make the roster. If we want to do another round after the third or fourth preseason games we can, but I’d figure we’d start with this.
I’ll post the roster below. You can copy and paste it into a comment, and delete out the players you don’t think will make the team. You can put the number of players you are keeping at each position group in that groups heading if you want to help count as you go and to help spur discussion. If you don’t want to do the copy paste method, just list the players you want by last name (no nick names please).
Here’s links to the roster and depth chart.
Let me know if you have any questions or see any errors I made
Game Thread: 49ers at Broncos, 2016 Preseason Week 2
It’s All Orange, Fat Man: 08/19/16 (My Last Open Thread)
Hello guys.
Firstly, I apologize for the lack of communication on my part.
I want to let you know that my laptop took a minor dump (got it fixed obviously) during the first part of fall camp which meant that I needed to find some free time to fix it. I mistakenly assumed that fall camp would operate at the same structure as our in-season schedule. It turned out that we went to our schedule of old (7:30am-10:00pm) and I had to wait until I got some time off in order to get the problem rectified. I could have typed the IAOFM on my phone but, found that way too inconvenient. I was also losing an hour and a half of sleep on top of that before my problem which affected the detail of my work on the field and in the office. Not good.
Since I have stopped writing the IAOFM, I have corrected a lot of the detail mistakes I have made at work and have more time for myself. I’m building better relationships with my athletes, coaches, and friends. I have basically taken on most of the football operations during camp because my coaches have entrusted me with a lot more duties than I initially thought I would have. All in all, my life is quickly turning into something big and I want to squeeze all of the juice I can out of this orange considering I may not have enough money to make it into a full-time collegiate coach.
Which is why I have made the decision to not post a daily open thread nor a IAOFM during the season. Sure, I could take two minutes of time out of my day to write a header on the top of the page and post it. Honestly though, I’m at that point though where I just want to focus on my job when I leave the house and that’s it. If someone else wants to take over IAOFM duties, I would be ecstatic.
I understand that I led you all to believe that I would be able to do this everyday. It’s not fair of me to say one thing and then do the other. So, I want you to know that when I let you know that when I say I will do something in the future, I will do it. I will get that problem corrected.
This is by no means a goodbye at all. I will still check in on you guys from time to time or maybe post the occasional article after my season concludes. I just do not want to make time to write the IAOFM anymore.
This is also by no means a negative reflection on you guys either. I still think you guys are awesome and I am super-glad that Nick gave me some room to write on his website. It helped me reflect on some of my thoughts about the game and gave me football to interact with when I was doing odd jobs during the summer. Football, if you couldn’t tell, is my song I wake up to in the morning.
You guys are awesome. Don’t you ever forget that. I hope you think the same of me even though I went AWOL the past couple of weeks.
