Since We’ve Already Filed Two AFC West Rivals…
…we may as well file the third one. Drew Magary talks about the Kansas City Chiefs.
As you probably guessed, Magary picks on Captain Checkdown a lot, but the Andy Reid animated GIF is pretty funny, too.
Marcell Dareus Is The Latest To Chase An Outlier Contract
The Bills have offered Dareus more than $90 million over six years, per a source, but Dareus seeks more. All indications are that he wants to be paid on the level of Ndamukong Suh, who signed a six-year $114 million extension with the Miami Dolphins this past offseason. Dareus is scheduled to make $8.06 million this season.
Asked if he had a contract number in mind, Dareus smiled and said “I’ll just say, ‘Thank you, Suh.’”

Best Case Scenario for Kenny Anunike; Will Be Back in 2 Weeks
As RSH first pointed out to me, all initial reports on Anunike’s knee procedure are positive. Per Mike Klis of the Denver Post:
Broncos got best-case scenario on DE Kenny Anunike knee scope – back in 2 weeks #9news #9sports
— Mike Klis (@MikeKlis) August 20, 2015
This is great news. He is still no guarantee to make the team, but his hard work and good personality may likely pay off. He’s been having a positive preseason and TC, and should (along with Antonio Smith and Vance Walker) serve to fill the gap that Wolfe’s suspension will leave.
Need a Quick Takes Fill In
Hello Broncos fans,
I really enjoyed doing the Quick Takes last week, and will continue to do those in the future. Unfortunately however, I’m on an internship in DC and my crappy extended stay America room doesn’t get more than 10 channels. Since I have no access to the NFL network, can someone fill in for me until I get back home? I’ll be back in Philadelphia August 30th, so if someone can fill in for the Houston game, as well as next week’s game, that would be much appreciated. Thanks.

In two moves today, the Denver Broncos placed nose tackle Marvin Austin on injured reserve and claimed tight end Jake Murphy off waivers.

Broncos to Wear Blue Jerseys Twice in 2015
Per Andrew Mason,
The Broncos will wear their blue alternate jerseys for home games against the Green Bay Packers and Oakland Raiders. But in a twist from the last three seasons, the Broncos will break out the white pants with orange stripes for the Packers game on Nov. 1.

75th Anniversary All-America Team: Some Became Broncos
The Football Writers Association of America has released its 75th Anniversary All-America Team, which recognizes its selection for the best college football players since the association started choosing teams.
Before anyone gets tuned up, the teams are selected based on what the players did in college, not the pros. So not everyone who made the team went on to greatness at the pro level, although a number of them did.
Those players who made the team who became Denver Broncos at some point are Champ Bailey, Tony Dorsett, Tim Tebow and Dre Bly.
And Merlin Olsen and Jerry Rice have loose ties. Olsen was drafted by the Broncos, but signed with the Los Angeles Rams back when the NFL and AFL were rivals. Rice attended Broncos training camp in 2005 but retired before the season started.
The FWAA can be found here.
Pro Football Focus Results
We’re at a new season and I thought it would be nice to share Pro Football Focus (PFF) results from Friday’s game. For those unaware, PFF has the most thorough analytics of football players. They provide a brief overview on how it works.
Kenny Anunike to Have Knee Scoped Thursday
Just as the Kenny Anunike post preseason debut hype train was leaving the station, this unfortunate piece of news dropped:
Broncos DE Kenny Anunike will have knee scoped to see if he's suffered another serious injury http://t.co/1otxrW5c03 (@arniestapleton)
— AP NFL (@AP_NFL) August 19, 2015
Any major injury would be a major blow to this team. Anunike was the defensive star of Friday’s preseason game. He figures to fill a large part of Derek Wolfe’s role assuming he’s healthy. We’ll have more on this as more news arises.
