It’s good to have a vet who can line up everywhere on the line. Nicer to have two. I must be smoking crack to think Schofield would have been the least shitty RT because the coaching staff hated Schofield like Republicans hate pedophiles. Oh wait bad analogy.

      • Yahmule

People said he was a bad fit for the offense, but getting your quarterback schmoined on every other pass drop is also kind of bad for the offense.

        • PiperAR

I understand not fitting in with long term plans, but in the short term sometimes you roll with what you got.

          • Yahmule

I was stunned to see both Schofield and Sambrailo jettisoned.

    • Sophie’s Choice.

  • PiperAR

Osweiler is the only QB on the roster with a W on New England, right?
Let’s *clap* go *clap* Brock *clap*

  • PiperAR

I’m hoping to be surprised but ready to go 3-9 in the worst Patriot bitchslap since the QB who will not be named. F U New England.

  • Royalwithcheese
  • PiperAR

Feels like Scott Pilgrim vs Todd. Hopefully Tom Brady has been cheating on his girl and his vegan diet.

    • Yahmule

      Is Von’s ball sweat vegan?

      • PiperAR

        It’s milk and eggs, bitch.

        • Yahmule

I think you’re still technically vegan if it’s force fed to you.

          • PiperAR

“You’re trying to trick me. I know you put half n half in one of those cups. I saw it in your minds eye. I’ll take the one with soy. Thanks, tool.”
“Actually muchacho, that was the one with half n half. I just thought really hard about using soy. In my minds eye. Or whatever.”

    • RSH

I did my part to thwart Tom Brady by having a bowl of Frosted Flakes and a Coca-Cola today. http://money.cnn.com/2015/10/14/news/companies/brady-coke-frosted-flakes/index.html

  • Nick

NBC has hired Chris Simms now? There’s another blast from the past name.

  • GoBroncos816

    Fantasy question –

In a game down by 30 with Carolina D, Julius Thomas, Gano and a flex spot. ..

Hemanuel or CJ for flex?? I’ve gone back and forth 20 times.

    • Forrest Trump

I’d go CJ. Pats are weak against the run and Denver HAS to get CJ going to give Oz a shot.

    • Yahmule

Tough call. CJ has fallen into a three way time share.

      • GoBroncos816

This is my biggest concern but like forrest said. They need to get the run game going and cj is their best shot imo, as far as 3 to 6 yard runs, setting up everything else. Also goal line carries hopefully (if they can get there and leave booker on the bench down there)

  • Forrest Trump

    Pressure free football tonight!!!

    WoooHooo!

I hope they play like a team with nothing to lose.

  • Nick

Very delightful of NBC to show a highlight reel of NE/DEN playoff games.

  • I don’t normally mind Al and Cris but wondering if I may have to mute this for awhile since they’ll mostly talk about crummy we are and Pats are awesome as always.

  • Yahmule
  • RSH

A Reuben sandwich at Subway? That is just wrong.

  • Yahmule

    Waddle, you gonna get wrecked.

  • gobroncos

    GO BRONCOS!!!

  • RSH

    History just keeps repeating itself.

  • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

FU McKenzie!!!! I hope I never see this fucker on the field again

  • Good start for D
Good Start for McKenzie…if he wants to be working at auto shop next week.

    GRRRRrrrrr…l

  • Yahmule

    Motherfuck this shit.

  • gobroncos

    Un. Fucking. Believable.

  • Royalwithcheese

I do not think McKenzie will be on this team next year.

    • Yahmule

He choked. No other way to say it.

      • Royalwithcheese

Can’t keep a guy on the roster who fucks up the only reason he’s on the team.

    • Brian

      You misspelled week.

    • He shouldn’t be on the team next week. He’s not THAT good of a returner to put up with these turnover issues. It’s worse than Norwood… and he’s not as good of a WR as Norwood and that’s not a high bar to clear.

    • DCJ1

I’m hoping mckenzie’s not on the team after half time. He has contributed one 44 yard return, 2 catches, and four fumbles.

  • Kyle Milligan

    Great….

  • Brian

Makes me nostalgic for those muffers of past NE games: welker and Holliday

    • Yahmule

Remember when that punt hit Tony Carter? That one stuck with me for a while.

  • Royalwithcheese

They’re going to go after Stewart every time in coverage. He simply can’t cover one on one anymore.

    • RSH

And that is the danger of not mixing in zone looks, especially if the pass rush does not get to Brady.

  • Russ

If MacKenzie is in the game again tonight I’m gonna fire VJ myself.

  • Andrew

It’s laughable at this point how often they shoot themselves in the dick.

  • CFD1983

Well that did not go as planned!

    • Royalwithcheese

Are you sure? Because it seems like it must be planned at this point.

    • Steven_Searls

That sad thing is this does seem to be the plan the last few weeks.

  • RSH

And now the Verizon guy is on. Now, I am really triggered!

  • Brian

If you’re on the bronco defense and you didn’t quit last week like talib did, perhaps this is the last straw.

  • Benjamin Funderburk

I wonder why teams don’t bring him left legged punters to practice just so guys can practice. Still think McKenzie should have called for a fair catch to give himself some breathing room. Oh well

    • Brian

Left foot punter is some collinsworth bullshit. Edit: anyone remember Horan producing a high rate of muffs during his 42 years punting for Denver?

      • Benjamin Funderburk

Disagree. Still have bad memories of Welker fumbling against the Pats

  • Russ

LOTS of massholes at the game tonight. I’ll take Raider fan over these front-running pricks any day.

    • RSH

I work with three now—in Denver!

      • Yahmule

Can’t you talk to HR about that?

      • NorBronco

Are they cheating on their taxes?

  • RSH

That was one of Osweiler’s best throws.

    • Yahmule

      He’s looking confident.

  • Brian

Sanders nearly coughed that one up

  • Brian

Nice script by McCoy so far.

  • RSH

Alan Branch looks like Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

  • Brian

    Booker still has no vision.

  • Brian

    Go for it

  • DragonPie

Meant bad throw. I typed that after McKenzie and never posted.

    • DCJ1

      Not a great throw either.

      • VonSwenson

        The throw was behind him.

        • DragonPie

Yeah. Accidentally posted that. It was a terrible throw.

  • Brian

    Chickenshit

  • Brian

I’m sorry but you need to score A LOT of points tonight. In chunks of 7 not 3, I think 27 minimum.

  • Royalwithcheese

    Can’t win with field goals.

    • RSH

Or fumbles deep near the red zone.

  • Why doesn’t Sanders return punts? I know the obv. answer is injury risk, but Antonio Brown is the Steelers primary PR. There are other examples but Brown is a top 3 WR and he does it willingly…

    • Brian

      He has, on occasion.

      • I can’t recall the last time. Anyway, I mean regularly…

  • RSH

Our special teams are officially deplorable.

  • Royalwithcheese

    Jesus

  • DragonPie

    Special teams isn’t improving

  • DCJ1

Brock Oliver needs to leave on the same bus as McKenzie.

  • Dennis

    Sheesh!

  • Brian

Wtf was that by booker? A helping push to end zone?

    • Dennis

      That’s what my wife said.

      • Yahmule

Mine, too. Don’t friggin’ dive or anything.

  • Pats kick it short we barely get to 20. We try to execute a similar KO and give up a TD return. And Booker pushed him toward the end zone…

  • CFD1983

    Not good

  • NorBronco

What was that whole thing about not beating ourselves again?

  • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

I hope Vance Joseph punches Brock Olivo in his face.

  • Piglet62

You’ve got to be kidding me.

  • Andrew

Any good special teams coaches out there?

    • Dennis

I’d be willing to give it a shot. I don’t think I would be any worse.

    • Brian

I think we interviewed one for head coach. But hey we got our man in vj.

      • He probably would have been a great hire. Just understands how to lead and his units regularly win games. And not lose them (KC haven’t given up a punt or kick return TD since he got there).

  • Laces Out

Which Brock is off the payroll first.

    Embarrassment

    • Royalwithcheese

      He’s done.

  • Royalwithcheese

Let’s go get a field goal, guys!

  • DCJ1

Colingsworth is in heaven right now. He’s able to shove that nose of his right up New England’s rear.

  • Brian

That fg decision looking even more avoid the shutout than game theory optimal.

  • Yahmule
  • RSH

The offensive play calling again is not the issue.

  • Brian

New England defense is just as porous as previous games. Unfortunately spotted them 14 on special teams.

  • DragonPie

Glad the Patriots d sucks so much this year.

  • Yahmule

This is a dogshit defense. They’re going to get their asses whipped in the divisional round.

    • We are letting them off the hook with two FG. Nevermind the ST play.

  • Get Booker out of there.

    • Dennis

Our RBs have a problem with running where there is no space.

  • RSH

How is that not a flag?

    • Dennis

      Not Tom Brady.

    • RSH

      We are getting zero breaks.

  • Yahmule

    Suck my dick, ref.

  • DragonPie

    Brady would have gotten it

    • Yahmule

Is there anyone on earth who disagrees with this?

  • Royalwithcheese

    Yep. Keep those FGs coming!

  • Dennis

It’d be 6-0 if not for SPECIAL teams play.

    • Russ

True. If not for special teams, they’d still suck.

      • Dennis

        Well yeah.

  • Brian

Awesome! We’ve cut it to a 3fg deficit.

  • Brian

Really really really need to blow up Brady for a strip sack here.

    • Brian

I mean assuming no return td

    • Royalwithcheese

Can they return it for a TD? Because otherwise it’ll end in a FG.

  • RSH

    Touchback! YAY!

    • Royalwithcheese

      Victory!

  • RSH

    Eff you, Packers.

  • Laces Out

51 absolutely sucks against the pass

  • DragonPie

    Terrible replays.

  • Royalwithcheese

    So easy.

  • RSH

Bennett sure looks healthy to me.

    • DCJ1

Someone needs to hit him hard.

    • Yahmule

Green Bay’s gonna get that signing bonus back.

  • Royalwithcheese

    Easily a yard short.

    • DCJ1

Not with a NE spot like that.

      • Royalwithcheese

Seems that could’ve changed the decision or the play call.

  • Dennis

Why is it that teams with poor defensive lines can blow through Denver’s offensive line, but Denver’s awesome defensive line can’t blow through teams poor offensive lines?

    • DCJ1

Because the other teams are allowed to hold.

      • Dennis

        Oh.

    • DragonPie

Brady gets rid of the ball quick and moves around in the pocket and audibles well. That helps.

  • RSH

    At least we deferred. :-/

  • Andrew

Seems like the defenses weaknesses are pretty exposed at this point.

    • Royalwithcheese

As in, the safeties aren’t great in coverage. Neither are the LBs.

    • Belichik figured out Talib could shut down opposing TEs when necessary… why don’t we try it once in a while.

      • RSH

He was on him that last play.

  • Gronk, Allen, Bennett : Green, Heuerman, Derby.

    • Brian

And we got derby from them

  • RSH

Playing the league’s two best quarterbacks in back-to-back weeks is brutal.

  • Cmon Davis finally has a pass breakup and they throw a flag?!

  • Yahmule

    Late bail out flag.

  • Dennis

Is that the best reply they got?

    • DragonPie

Replays have been terrible all game

  • Brian

    Weak call

  • RSH

    Great play, Willie!

  • Dennis

    Nice!

  • RSH

    Nice play, Justin!

  • Yahmule

    Eat shit, fucker.

  • RSH

Our young safeties looked great that series.

    • DragonPie

I wonder how much we play nickle and dime. With Wade, nickle was our base.

    • And strangely Stewart hasn’t been great this yr. Seems that he’s taken on more of Ward’s role and it doesn’t suit him quite as well… right?

  • Laces Out

31 is getting better. More comfy not overthinking

  • Brian

    Shit! Down 4fgs now.

  • RSH

    Solid return by Booker.

  • DragonPie

    Woohoo. Past the 25

  • Is Booker really the best KR option when the Pats are actually giving Broncos return opportunities?

  • Dennis

I didn’t know Brock was so tall. It’s never been mentioned.

  • RSH

We caught a break! Holy shnikies!

  • Benjamin Funderburk

Anyone else see the guy get hit in the head by Block’s throw away. Worth the rewind

    • gnasses

Was awesome, even my wife noticed in live broadcast!

      • Benjamin Funderburk

That will be on That’s Good Broncos

        • Yahmule

          Probably on Twitter already.

          • Tyler

Missed it if anyone notices it posted

          • Yahmule

            See above

  • Offensive play calling gone cold. But Colinsworth says Os playing well.

    • Dennis

      And that’s what really matters.

  • DragonPie

Special teams gonna win it for us

  • Benjamin Funderburk

    Lawd have mercy! ST trash

  • Russ

If Brock Olivo is on the field again tonight, I’m gonna fire VJ myself.

  • Dennis

    Dixon made a nice play.

  • DragonPie

    Lots of time

    • Steven_Searls

That’s what our special teams coach said.

      • DragonPie

I just mean that Brady had all day and a giant pocket.

  • What the hell special teams?! This is way worse than the home KC game that got Joe DeC let go…

    • The Color Orange

If only the Broncos wouldn’t have taken your advice!

      • I actually thought Joe DeC got a raw deal… I liked him. BUT I was all for Olivo!

  • RSH

And draft bust Dorsett catches a pass. Ugh.

  • gobroncos

    Fire Brock Olivo. Now.

    • I was so hopeful 4 yrs. under Toub meant something. Apparently not.

      • Benjamin Funderburk

Looks like we got McDaniel’d by KC

        • I do wonder if Toub knew his interview was sort of a sham (clear it was VJ or Shanny) and panted the idea of Olivo as a sabotage…

          • Dennis

That would be kinda hilarious if true.

      • gobroncos

Special teams has gotten worse and worse.

  • RSH

With our luck, the call will be overturned.

    • Yahmule

Replay assblasting all that’s missing tonight.

    • Royalwithcheese

      I think that’s a catch.

      • Dennis

        So do I!

      • DragonPie

I think it may have been, but definitely not overturnable

  • DragonPie

    Good audible.

  • RSH

I miss having a guy like PFM on the field to audible into the right play calls.

  • iowabronco

I miss having a team that I expected to win. Haven’t felt like that since 2011.

    • The Color Orange

      What?

    • DCJ1

Honestly, I always expected the Manning teams to win.

  • Royalwithcheese

    Broncos offense is winning 6-3.

  • Benjamin Funderburk

This team has no margin for error with our offense and we continue to gift teams with short fields because of turnovers and poor ST play. This game could get ugly quick. Need to score a TD stat!

  • Royalwithcheese
    • Tyler

      LOL there it is

      • DCJ1

The Broncos now need a new equipment guy.

    • VonSwenson

      Right in the Omaha

    • NorBronco

      Aim for Olivo next time

    • iowabronco

      Just missed Brock O

  • What’s the fascination with Booker as a KR?!

    • DCJ1

      Would you prefer McKenzie?

      • No. But Latimer is better. Ideally Langley looks like he’s built for the role. I think C. Henderson was supposed to do it…

  • Yahmule
  • RSH

Flashbacks to Sanders in the 2015 AFC Championship Game.

    • He’s saved Os a couple times, he looks determined tonight. Let him return punts too.

      • gobroncos

        Yes!

  • I thought the plan to have CJ not take himself out as much this yr. Booker gonna stalk the drive again.

  • RSH

    Sanders came to play.

    • Laces Out

Good thing or it would be hard to imagine weve scored at all

  • Yahmule
  • DragonPie

I wouldn’t mind seeing the pass on first or second down once and awhile.

  • Dennis

    Damn.

  • Have to go for it here. No more FGs.

  • DragonPie

    Field goal is nonsense

    • Crazy. Does VJ really think he’s in this game kicking FGs…

  • Dennis

At least McManus is having a good night.

  • iowabronco

4more FGs and we are in the lead!

    • VonSwenson

and of course hold the pats to no points. That part should be easy…

  • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

We are McManusing the shit out of the Patriots!!!!

  • Royalwithcheese

You could turn this game off after that decision confident that the Broncos will lose.

    • But none of us will, we like the pain.

  • I don’t see what is special about Booker. He look like JAG.

    • Bingo. Drive staller. And a brutal KR but he keeps getting chances.

    • Laces Out

I’m ready to call him a bust at this point.

He has almost zero homerun threat ability just like CJ in fact a notch below CJ. There’s no change of pace it’s just a lesser back

    • Brian

Yeah. That’s been my assessment as well. Lacks vision.

    • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

He kind of reminds me of a shitty Olandis Gary with a worse O-Line.

      • Yahmule

        So, Gene Lang.

      • Olandis had power and vision. I don’t see anything from Booker. You know who he reminds me of? Lance Ball.

        • Dennis

Lance Ball is a great comparison.

      • iowabronco

Olandis had quicker feet, Booker seems to be permanently in 2nd gear.

        • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

Which is weird because he looked a lot faster out of the gate last year

      • RSH

He reminds me of Ryan Mathews with poor vision.

        • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

He’s a lot like Laveon Bell, but different…

          • FarAwayBroncoFan

            Lol

          • Yahmule

            Both male bipeds.

  • RSH

Cris Collinsworth made a very valid point. We badly need a third receiver in the middle of the field.

    • Dennis

This be true, we’ve all been saying this for a long time.

    • FarAwayBroncoFan

Carlos Henderson? Is he that guy?

      • RSH

        That was/is the hope.

      • Yahmule

Another deep year for wideouts in the upcoming draft.

    • The Color Orange

It was supposed to be Carlos Henderson

  • Yahmule

Brock has fit some passes into tight coverage tonight.

    • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

He’s playing a decent game, for sure.

      • gobroncos

Except we’re getting field goals. Not tds.

    • Dennis

Brock has been good Brock so far.

    • Laces Out

He’s keeping us in and as long as he doesn’t throw to the wrong team

  • Can Olivo be fired at halftime?

    • Dennis

      One can hope.

  • RSH

It is sad that touchbacks bring me a sense of relief.

  • DragonPie

    Funny touchback

  • Brian

The hell was that? I think it should be safety

    • DragonPie

There ref shouldn’t have caught it.

      • DCJ1

Live ball, someone should have tackled the ref.

  • iowabronco

    Fantasizing about a pick 6 before halftime…..

    • Yahmule

We might be fantasizing about the 6th pick if we can’t help out this defense.

    • Huh? We don’t have the ball. You mean after the pats punt?

      • iowabronco

Um,no, it would be us picking off a Brady pass and running back for a TD = pick 6.

    • BlackKnigh

Might even run out the clock on the run to the end zone.

  • Yahmule

I was so happy when we got serious and drafted three return men and goddamned if we don’t have any again.

    • I was there with you. Seems crazy to be in this position again. I do have hope for C. Henderson. He’s at least not tiny like MacKenzie. Where hasn’t Langley been?!

      • Royalwithcheese

They really need to give Langley a chance.

  • RSH
  • Yahmule

    Give Jerrol Garcia-Williams some reps.

  • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

Where are the Patriots finding all these white football players?

    • DCJ1

Kraft is a big Trump supporter.

      • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

I just figured maybe they had an ad on craigslist

        • DCJ1

The players you get from Craigslist are creepy Hernandez type guys.

          • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

            I’m pretty sure that’s Backpage

  • cjfarls

well, looks like another game i can probably turn off at halftime. no passrush, no DEF, ST dumpster fire, and offense that cant score TDs.

  • Brian

For some comic relief, I’m in a tight fantasy game and playing against gostkowski and cmc on Monday. Now only up by about 12. I have Jordan Howard. Today John fox challenged a play that would have given Chicago first and goal at the 2. Call was reversed and ruled a touchback. I have Leonard fournette. In regulation, down 17-14, marquise lee draws a penalty in the end zone giving the opportunity for 1st and goal. And instead resulting in 3rd and 25. In overtime jax intercepts rivers and returns it to the 2 yard line. But they commit a taunting penalty and instead it’s at the 17 yard line. Now this debacle .

    • Yahmule

Yeah, the big bonus was getting an extra 2.9 points out of him in OT.

      • Brian

Standard scoring. I think I got like 1.3

  • Royalwithcheese

I like the scheme of having Von in coverage. Solid.

    • VonSwenson

      Peko might be better.

    • Dennis

It really plays to Vons strengths.

    • DCJ1

The bright side is when Von is in coverage the lineman can’t hold him.

  • RSH

    Where is the pass rush?

    • Royalwithcheese

Maybe Shaq and Shane aren’t all that goo.

      • RSH

        They are playing like goo.

      • iowabronco

No HOF DeMarcus Ware makes a difference too.

  • Brian

Will they ever call grounding when a qb, even a non ton Brady qb throws the ball 30 yards out of the end zone from the pocket?

  • The Color Orange

Were there really people who thought we would win this?

    • Steven_Searls

      Not really.

    • RSH

      Mike Evans.

    • cjfarls

if the st wasnt a blazing bag of dog poo, we’d still be in it…. but, ST is what it is this year.

    • Brian

I thought we’d lose in a more predictable way. I didn’t anticipate complete special teams collapse.

    • No. But there was a lot of talk about leadership and effort, execution, etc. In the end, the same sloppy play. Ya Brock hasn’t turned it over and he’s made some nice throws, but lots of FGs.

      • Steven_Searls

Leaders of men apparently don’t focus on the details.

    • Piglet62

We’d be in this game but for entirely unforced special teams errors. Instead, we need a miracle not to have this season end in the next quarter. Wild.

  • Royalwithcheese

    Honestly wish he had fumbled.

  • What is 84 doing on the field again?! And bringing it out?!

  • Dennis

Goodnight everyone, I’m going to bed.

  • Laces Out

Looks like a scrimmage for the Patriots

  • 50 point to whomever can tell me when was the last 1st half TD this offense scored.

    • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

      Raiders game

      • VonSwenson

        October 1.

      • 50 points to @whoshotbobbyhumphrey

  • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

    I hate Tom Brady’s face.

  • Nick

So…how much raging was there against Brock Olivo and the special teams in the first half?

    • Royalwithcheese

      Quite a bit.

    • RSH

      Not much. 🙂

    • DCJ1

We’re taking a collection to buy Olivo and McKenzie bus tickets to Siberia.

      • RSH

McKenzie will go somewhere like New England and blow up.

      • Yahmule

Brock would get there and be all overly optimistic.

    • PR fumble, blocked punt, KR TD. All against. Plus routinely starting drives inside 20. Kind of warranted.

  • Steven_Searls

More than anything else, you can see how overmatched our coaching has been this year. I feelthat we have been out coached by the other team except in only one game, Dallas.

  • VonSwenson

And if the Broncos didn’t have those catches from Sanders…

  • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

I wonder how much it would take to make Peyton Manning come and be our special teams coach?

    • RSH

I think he’d lose his mind coaching.

      • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

He’s got a lot to spare.

  • RSH

Karma has to catch up to the Patriots at some point. I am so sick of that franchise. At least we won’t have to play them in the regular season in 2018 for the first time since 2010.

    • Nick

The next 3 possibilities would all be in Foxboro anyway.

      • Rob Rooney

I think there is a very good chance this will be the last game Brady ever plays in Denver.

        • Would have been nice to hand him another L.

  • RSH
    • Packers should have made him have that “sugergy.”

  • RSH

    That’s PI.

  • Brian

    half second early

  • I’m not sure why VJ thinks that the only issue is ST. Of course it’s been a disaster tonight, but can’t cover TEs still, Burkhead eating them up all sorts of ways, and on offense no TDs. It’s a team issue.

  • Brian

    Keep running the ball.

  • Brian

I see a lot of early contact go uncalled. I would hate to see pass interference become reviewable and result in a penalty, but would be interested in a system that would allow a team to challenge a play under a catch all ‘unfair advantage’ with success meaning replay the down. A do over.

  • RSH

Oh, goodness. Please be okay, Garrett.

    • DragonPie

At least it’s a good sign that he limped off.

  • RSH

    That was a great pocket.

  • Brian

Notice that Brock, like TS has several times been forced by pressure to move laterally and backwards. Need a cleaner pocket.

    • Russ

And i need a million bucks.

  • Can’t fault Bolles there.

  • RSH

Brock has made some nice audibles tonight.

  • RSH

    Great series!

  • DragonPie

It may be the hideous Patriot’s defense, but our offense really has looked passable tonight.

    • Alaskan

      Passable !!
      I like that.

    • Brian

      It’s 75% shitty d and 25% good o

  • Piglet62

    “I’m not dead yet.”

  • Laces Out

Do we have a tight end?

    • RSH

A search party has been dispatched.

  • Benjamin Funderburk

That’s a sweet FG! Wait…we scored a TD?! Woo hoo!!

    • DragonPie

      Double FG!

      • Benjamin Funderburk

        This should be a thing

        • Brian

          Someone should tell VJ

  • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

    Osweiler > Siemian

    For now…

    • DCJ1

      2.5 > 2.0

  • Kush-Lash

Curious, what’s the difference between a 12 point and 11 point game with this much time left?

    • Brian

Meaning go for 2? Sure, why not?

      • Kush-Lash

Yea, it’s a net loss. I just think when your down two possessions already, give yourself a chance at tying with 10 instead of needing 11.

    • DragonPie

I was thinking they should go for two as well, but at least this way, maybe they’re less likely to settle for a FG.

  • Royalwithcheese

    Brock will start next week.

    • Yahmule

I’m going all in and wearing his jersey.

      • You have an Osweiler jersey?

        • Yahmule

Yep. Didn’t get mailed to the Philippines.

      • DCJ1

Os is 6’ 7”. Wouldn’t his jersey be a bit long on you?

    • What’s the point of that? We know what’s there in Brock and TS. Let’s see if by some miracle Lynch can play…

      • DragonPie

After four or five more years, Lynch will be ready. Brock’s just starting to deveolop now.

      • Royalwithcheese

Can’t take out a QB who’s playing well.

        • He’s been the best we’ve seen at the position in weeks… but not sure he’s been good. Even the one TD was greatly aided by a ridiculously lucky 3rd and 10 conversion. I guess at 3 – 8 you’re playing for next yr. so why not let Lynch go?

          • Royalwithcheese

Sure, if they get to 3-8.

          • Sorry typo. Even at 3-6. But I understand Dragon’s point that PT should be earned and while Os hasn’t been great he’s been the best we’ve seen in a while so give him another shot.

          • DragonPie

I still believe that players should earn starting time and that draft position is a sunk cost that shouldn’t matter once you get to the pros, you earn your opportunities and that’s how I prefer the Broncos always function.

  • Royalwithcheese

I’d like to thank Brock Olivo for losing this game this far.

  • Alaskan

    What is with Talib?

    • Royalwithcheese

He looked far from 100% there.

    • DCJ1

      Corners age suddenly 🙁

      • Steven_Searls

Rumored he has been nursing an Achilles issue.

      • I don’t think it’s age. Some attitude. Some just not putting it all on the line for a 3 win team where he’s seeing some teammates/coaches give games away.

    • RSH

And no pass rush and poor run fits.

  • Kush-Lash

Wade Phillips Play Calling > Joe Woods Play Calling

    • DragonPie

Not a lot better than Wade Phillips.

    • BlackKnigh

      Our defense misses Wade!

      • DragonPie

We just have to arrange for them to meet up in some farfetched scenario that brings both back together. Maybe mom and dad can remember the magic.

    • The Color Orange

I knew we were in trouble when VJ came in talking about how he wasn’t aggressive all the time like Wade.

  • DragonPie

Playing some good offenses, but Philly ran all over us, too.

    • Royalwithcheese

I can’t figure it out. Peko tiring?

      • RSH

Playing really smart QBs with great playcallers.

        • DragonPie

Some explanation, but not enough when for such a steep dropoff.

  • VJ will say it’s only ST. But it’s a team issue including his defense that barely put up a fight there after the offense at least did something positive by crossing goal line for first time.

  • Yahmule

I think a hyper coach like Olivo has guys start tuning him out quickly.

    • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

I think he needs to start smoking Weed instead of Meth.

  • The Color Orange

How arrogant of Elway to think Wade Phillips didn’t matter.

    • Kndh19

How arrogant of elway, and also fans.

      • Were there fans that didn’t want him back?

        • Kndh19

After he was not resigned, I mentioned on here how stupid it was and had responses of Wade Phillips defenses rankings dropping after the 2nd year, Joe woods is a rising star, and Wade is too old.

          • BlackKnigh

I was disappointed in his being let go and made my feelings known here. Wade probably has more experience as a DC than most that are coaching today. He really found his niche in Denver. It could have been 5 yr run for an outstanding defense. Now he does his magic in LA.

          • Kndh19

            Agreed

    • BlackKnigh

Wade on a 3 yr contract should have been a steal. Having another experience coordinator with HC experience would be a stabilizing force on this team. I would rather have lost Joe Wood than Wade.

    • DragonPie

I could understand if he decided to go for a highly touted offensive coach and knew that cutting ties with Wade was an unfortunate consequence, but I never understood bringing in a defensive guy and watching our fantastic proven coordinator leave.

    • After his work in Denve he deserved to be paid at the top of DC list. Rams thought so. I mean the Dolphins we’re paying an o line coach I had barely heard of that’s into coke and whores $3m!

      • Brian

Lol. Maybe je didn’t want to be complicit in a sonofbum coke/whore issue.

  • Kush-Lash

McCoy digging a little deeper in the playbook and finally seeing some nice returns. Read-fake screen, two WR in backfield, etc.

  • Brian

Collinsworth seems to have forgotten that about 1/2 the ne points are attributable to the special teams. D needs to do more, but I don’t think they’ve been ‘exposed’

    • DragonPie

They’re still good. Just no longer great.

  • Brian

Punting from midfield down by 18 with 1 quarter to go is the epitome of chickenshit coaching.

    • Brian

That’s 44 yards of field position. I predict New England will gain 44 yards in 4 plays or fewer.

      • Royalwithcheese

        That’s 3. One more for 10 yards?

  • Benjamin Funderburk

    Nice punt. #celebratesmallvictories

  • Royalwithcheese

I have to say, if the Broncos get a FA QB, they should look at taking one of the top OLBs.

  • DCJ1

And that, my friends, is what a well-coached ST looks like: a guy with good hands who understands risk/reward on punt returns.

  • Yahmule

People shitting on the defense right now are cracking me up. Complain all you want, but the Broncos came into this game allowing 3.4 yards per carry, second best mark in the NFL.

They’ve allowed 205 passing yards per game, third best in the league. They’ve allowed just two pass plays over 40 yards, third best in the league. 20 pass plays over 20 yards, tied for sixth in the league.

The offense and special teams have conspired to allow opposing offenses to start in our territory 18 times, by far the worst mark in the league.

But, yeah, fuck Joe Woods, he sucks.

    • Brian

I don’t think saying letting wade walk was a mistake equates with saying joe woods sucks.

      • Agreed, Wade deserved to stay at an increase (he came on the cheap oroginally).

It’s a team issue at this point, but far bigger problems on offense and ST. With those two solved it’s a different defense, playing downhill. After offense did score tonight though, defense didn’t put up much of a fight… but I don’t blame them at this point. I’m more concerned VJ thinks the problem is only ST.

      • Yahmule

Wade was going to make the offense play better, I guess.

        • DragonPie

I would have understood the decision if they brought in an offensive head coach.

But I’m not upset with the coaches. Just think Elway’s decision was clearly poor.

        • Brian

Retaining wade for top dollar shows loyalty and a meritocracy versus saving a buck.

        • FarAwayBroncoFan

Offense sucks. Special teams apparently sucks too. The D looked great early in the year. But they have not looked good the last two weeks.

I get that the offense and special teams has put them in very bad positions. But even so, they were not able to make game changing plays…critical stops and turnovers. Two years ago, when the offense screwed up, we’d give up a FG. Now, it’s too often a TD…at least lately.

    • DragonPie

Those are cherry picked stats. Objectively the defense has been good, but not great. The run defense prior to last week has been elite. The pass defense has been ok, but not up to their usual standards. They rank 6th in defensive DVOA which is good, but their rating is much worse than previous incarnations. Pass defense DVOA is 15th or league average.

They aren’t bad, but they’re just not remarkable anymore. At that stage, you need at least an above average offense to be competitive.

      • Yahmule

Maybe if they could play with a lead for more than four minutes in the last month, they could make some big plays.

      • Yahmule

YPC is a cherry picked stat? Seriously? Yard allowed per game is cherry picked? Ridiculous.

        • DragonPie

YPA is 8th in the league which to me is a more important stat, so I’ll give them that. I wonder where the dropoff in DVOA is from, perhaps the lack of turnovers. Anyhow, they really have been worse this year than the last two years by a reasonable margin which is understandable because that’s within random variation and maintaining great level of play isn’t reasonable to expect. Few teams have ever had two such seasons in a row and fewer still have three, so it’s possible that the dropoff would have happened even if Wade remained, but his track record of significant defensive improvement is profound.

  • Brian

Field position update on punt from midfield. Patriots: 3 plays 28 yards. I predicted 4 to gain 44 it looks like it might take 5 or 6

    • Brian

      Yep, 6.

  • Steven_Searls

We are Seattle without Russell Wilson.

  • Russ

How was that not intentional grounding?

    • DCJ1

Tom Brady does not intentionally ground the ball.

    • Brian

      Tom Brady threw it.

  • Brian

May have been 7 yards. Weak call

  • DragonPie

Looked like it was within five to me.

  • Could this be another ST fuck up?!

  • Steven_Searls

Can. The ST get any worse?

  • Alaskan

We only had 10 guys on the field before.
We should get to average it all out and have 12 now.

  • DCJ1

Brock Olivio needs to go. Now.

  • Royalwithcheese

Night, everyone. I’ll complain more in the morning.

  • This is worse than Jay Rodgers ST!

    • DragonPie

One solace is that next year, if they get even regular shitty ST coaching, we’ll see dramatic improvement.

  • Piglet62

Olivo has to go. Season-ending incompetence. We will have meaningful football again in September I guess.

  • Benjamin Funderburk

Unemployment comes at you fast. Olivo

  • The Color Orange
  • Steven_Searls

Should we start figuring out who will not be a Bronco next year, coaches and players?

    • DCJ1

Might be easier to figure who should be retained. Much shorter list. Take a look at the heat maps in the article I posted today.

      • Alaskan

That is a good article, DCJ.

        • DCJ1

It made me sad. I’d not truly believed the offensive rot was as deep as it looks. As much anger was aimed at Kubes and Rico for the offense last year, they were doing better with what they had.

  • DragonPie

    Expected a flag.

    • Seriously after that BS flag he got vs KC a couple weeks ago.

      • DragonPie

I just think they call those now a lot of the time.

  • The Color Orange

At least we no longer have to worry about losing Joe Woods.

    • DCJ1

Was he the dude that Brock beaned on the sideline?

    • Hey VJ got a HC job after one season as Miami’s DC with less than great results.

      • Steven_Searls

        Should have signed McVea.

  • What is VJ surprised at there? No prsssure on Brady and you’re asking Will Parks to cover a shifty, good receiving back.

  • Benjamin Funderburk

Honest question: does Mini Shabby or Toub do better for us as HC, hindsight and all that jazz

    • Benjamin Funderburk

Win a loss on the horizon, would Elway let McCoy serve as interim coach to finish the season?

  • The Color Orange
    • T. Jensen

yep but Kyle can’t lead men

  • Random Anonymous Coward

Well. Our pass rush went from elite to mundane in two seasons. I hope we don’t waste the few peak seasons Von has left.

No point on watching this game, it’s not a competitive one, nor fun. Players look animically deflated, they have given up. Why don’t we.

A few games with empty seats could turn on a fire under the management seats. Fanbase doesn’t have to be unconditional. I love the Broncos but they don’t seem to respect the fanbase by, you know, playing 60 minutes.

    • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

I blame my Hero for this.

    • Benjamin Funderburk

I like watching who keeps fighting till the end

      • DragonPie

Chris Harris Jr. always. Love that undrafted fight.

      • Alaskan

        Oz is not playing badly.

        • Alaskan

          Oops!!

        • DCJ1

          Ooops

        • Solid. Until then. Bad, bad throw.

          • DCJ1

Very bad decision. Hes been late and behind on a lot of his throws.

        • Random Anonymous Coward

I’m going to guess you jinxed it badly. TV is on Netflix now

          • Alaskan

            So it appears.

  • Steven_Searls

Never seen such a collapse so quickly from this team. Not in 50 years of being a fan. Shutout by the Chargers, and blown out on back to back games like this is a first for me.
At least everyone knew McJedi hadn’t inherited a playoff contrender.

  • There was no reason to not re-sign Wade.

Just as there was no reason to can Joe DeC. Apart from the KC home game last yr. and Norwood’s ball security issues ST were the best in as long as I can recall under DeC, especially during the SB50 run. If Wade was Elway, was it Elway or VJ on DeC (pretty sure he even had a year left in his contract unlike Wade). Even the kicking and punting has regressed Under Olivo.

    • Brian

I’m pretty sure we can find several uncle Rico posts calling for DeC head on a pike.

    • gobroncos

I’m all for canning Olivo after this game. Im also beginning to agree that Wade never should have left. Defense has steadily gone downhill.

  • Brian

    Can we forfeit?

    • Alaskan

No 10 run rule in the NFL.

  • At least Latimer getting some run.

    • RSH

I would bring him back at this point.

      • Absolutely. Best ST cover guy we have. And almost every time he catches a pass it’s for a first down. Great athlete. But 3 staffs have limited his time at WR… why?

        • RSH

I really think that he struggles in fully grasping playbooks.

          • He was McShay’s favorite prospect that draft… he mind f’d Elway into trading up for him.

      • Brian

Gotta be a cheap deal. We couldn’t keep Webster who was every bit as good on st as Cody. Wade snapped him up

        • Will be for sure less than Webster. Webster stepped in as a starting CB. No one is starting Latimer at WR.

        • RSH

Certainly. I would not overpay to keep him.

        • DragonPie

Looking back, it’s a boon to have a player who is now a starting CB on another team as the fourth CB on our team.

  • Brian

    Welp.

  • Steven_Searls

And the ultimate but not unexpected Brock moment.

  • Steven_Searls

Odds on Paxton starting next week anyone?

    • RSH

I would say close to 95%. EDIT: I misread. I meant this for Brock starting.

    • Random Anonymous Coward

Please no. He still may have a chance of being good. Any QB that plays this season will have his confidence devastated irremediably

      • gobroncos

Sink or swim. Throw him in. He needs to see what it takes to play in the nfl. He’ll find he’s woefully unprepared. My only hope is it’ll light a fire under him this offseason and he’ll be more of a student of the game and learn to prepare properly.

    • He must. Os was okay tonight. But only one TD and that bad INT. At 3-6, have to see what Lynch can do.

    • Brian

Given he doesn’t appear to even be the emergency qb this week, I say 0%

    • DragonPie

Personally, I believe that guys should earn their starting time and that draft pedigree shouldn’t matter, but part of me wants to just see him start and suck miserably so we can move on.

    • Piglet62

They ought to. Season’s over. Might as well see what he can do.

  • Random Anonymous Coward

Are there any elite OT coming off college this year?

    • Steven_Searls

Yes but good luck figuring out who.

    • RSH

Plenty of good to great RTs in rounds 1 and 2 to take.

  • Benjamin Funderburk

BOLD prediction: all three QBs on the roster won’t be Broncos next season.

    • RSH

      Bookmark this one, folks!

    • DragonPie

Interesting. I was thinking we could keep one as a backup.

    • Random Anonymous Coward

Elway has proven to be obstinate to a fault when it comes to QBs. That would be a BOLD prediction. I say we keep at least 2 of the four.

    • DCJ1

Challenge: you need an OT, a running back, and a starting QB. I’m betting Lynch and/or Siemian will still be here as a backup.

    • gobroncos

Nah. Trevor and Paxton’s are still relatively cheap to keep as backups. I would hope we’ll have someone else that can start and play head and shoulders better.

      • Piglet62

Either one a quality backup. I wouldn’t write off Siemian forever. But, ideally if you go 3-13 or 4-12 you should be able to improve via draft. We will see, I guess.

  • Brian

Classy by pats there. Let’s run out the clock now

  • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

I don’t think we need bar graphs or analytics to tell us what’s been going wrong with our offense. We had Peyton Manning, we did really awesome with Peyton Manning, Peyton Manning started to suck, our offense started to suck, we had no answer to that or a back up plan for that. We also lost Demarcus Ware, Malik Jackson, Danny Trevathan, and Wade Phillips. Now we suck. Any questions?

    • No questions.

    • Laces Out

      Nailed it

    • DCJ1

Sorry man — I’m in management. Nothing’s real until it’s in a bar graph in PowerPoint…

      • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

        Lol

  • My KC fan buddy just asked “why Booker on KR, he’s awful… looks like an upman”?

    • RSH

Because he can at least cleanly catch the ball. And tell him to go win a Super Bowl.

      • I have many times, ha. But Latimer is a better option. Langley too.

        • RSH

Meh. They did little when given opportunities thus far. I would like to see Langley more there to see if he has a future in such a role.

      • Laces Out

        How about a playoff game

        • RSH

They finally won one against Brian Hoyer in 2015.

          • Kyle Milligan

Hoyer was more valuable for the chiefs than any of their actual players in that game…

  • Brian

I don’t get it… down 18 we punt from midfield. Down 25 with 12 fewer minutes of game time were gunslinging it all over the field.

    • VJ doesn’t seem to have a good feel for game management.

      • Random Anonymous Coward

Or football at a professional level

    • Kyle Milligan

I turned it off after that punt while down by 18, thought that meant they were packing it in..

  • Laces Out

Cant wait until the Massholes suck for a decade after Brady. Fuck Belichick…for a guy who preaches excellence he shows up over weight like a fuckin unshaved slob in a dumb fuck hoodie about as professional as jeff spicoli

Mother fuckers throwing the ball and going for it on 4th at this stage is bush league.

Im convinced Jonathan Kraft is giving daddy a hand job in that stinky booth but too late Collinsworth already polished him off before the game…

    Fuck NE

    Never forget the drop kick

    • Brian

Going for it on 4th was to avoid putting up more points.

      • Laces Out

Please..is that why they put it up down the sideline..

        • Brian

Well they can’t just kneel down, right? With 6 minutes left?

          • Laces Out

            Order up that 12 jersey

          • Brian

            Paxton?

          • Laces Out

            Shove it up your ass

The Paxton jersey? Might improve its value!

You know, when the season goes badly, a sense of humor is sometimes all we’ve got.

Now, let’s make these high draft picks count.

Here’s to our getting the offense’s version of Von.

  • Nick

Tapping out early, but I’ll just note briefly that if it wasn’t for the special teams blunders this is potentially a 24-16 game. Not agreeing at all the the narrative of some of the lazy “massively declining defense!” takes I’m seeing on Twitter right now just because there’s a 41 in the NE column.

    • gobroncos

They’re certainly not playing like they used too. Defense has declined over the course of this season. That’s coaching.

    • Ya a different game, but just don’t think it was ever going to be that close…

    • Random Anonymous Coward

Defense has the tools, lacks the motivation. And whatever coaching changes destroyed pass rush. Teams with a lot less talent have better results.

    • Yahmule

The defense is fine and there’s not a thing the sainted Wade Phillips could have done to make them any better this season. Not unless he was going to play right tackle.

      • DCJ1

He might have. He took several hits on the sidelines without getting knocked out.

      • DragonPie

Without Wade, we might get a better draft pick.

    • DragonPie

There is definitely a defensive decline, but I get what you’re saying. The sky isn’t falling. Just the sky is sagging a little bit.

    • Piglet62

Still quite good. But the pass rush just isn’t what it was, so they’ve gone from great to good.

      • Brian

Uninformed twitter hot takes carry little weight as unbiased evidence.

        • Yahmule

The 2013 Texans allowed 428 points. Rock solid take otherwise.

          • RSH

And the Patriots schooled Wade Phillips’s defense in the 2012 regular season and 2012 AFC Playoffs. Every game and season is a unique animal.

    • FarAwayBroncoFan

No, the defense isn’t responsible for all 41 points (or even close to all). But they are no longer covering for the offense’s mistakes. At least not since the loss to the Giants.

  • RSH

I hate when Tom Brady breaks PFM’s records.

    • Random Anonymous Coward

Pfm is still the greatest ever. He redefined the position.

      • RSH

He just needed to eat more avocado toast to keep playing into his 40s.

        • Random Anonymous Coward

Or never having a near career ending injury then pushing through half a decade and 2 Superbowls on a broken body.

          • RSH

            It was a joke. . .

          • Random Anonymous Coward

I know. I just miss pfm, even noodle arm pfm was enjoyable to watch play.

          • DragonPie

I read them both as jokes.

        • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

          Or bang more model ass.

      • Yahmule

I think a Colt quarterback redefined the position, but it was Johnny Unitas.

        https://www.pro-football-reference.com/years/1959/passing.htm

  • I also wonder about the 3 back rotation… no one can get in a damn rhythm. And Booker is a drive staller. It’s ridiculous.

  • Holy cow, Hoyer looks tiny next to Brady.

    • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

What did I tell you about hanging out in the stadium restrooms after the game? Just get the hell out of there, and get back to complaining about our roster, and management!

      • RSH

You, sir, have won the post of the day and the Internet!

  • DragonPie

It makes me roll my eyes that they’re pretending that the Pats D is fixed narrative getting spouted. Their defense has looked terrible today against an awful offense.

  • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

Now that the Broncos have pretty much wasted any hopes for the playoffs, I would like to see the Jaguars or Eagles win the Super Bowl this year. Hopefully the Broncos can draft our next franchise quarterback and start working on the rest of our deficiencies.

    • Piglet62

Eagles look like the real deal for sure. They are kind of due, after various heartbreak scenarios during the McNabb era. It wouldn’t be offensive if they win.

      • DragonPie

I always root for them in that division just because I don’t like any of the other teams.

      • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

I just don’t want to see the following teams win the Super Bowl:
        -Patriots
        -Raiders
        -Chiefs
        -Seahawks
        -Cowboys
        -Steelers

        • Random Anonymous Coward

          Stupid falcons

          • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

My only beef with the Falcons is that they didn’t beat the patriots last year.

          • Random Anonymous Coward

Yeah exactly. I know at least 5 massholes or kids who only know the successful Patriots franchise (anyone under 25 basically) who were literally ripping their jerseys to shreds before the 4th quarter. A Falcons win would have been so… cathartic.

          • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

It’s sad to think back at how happy I was at halftime of that game.

          • FarAwayBroncoFan

It’ll end. I remember when the 49ers were contenders every single year. I was so mad when as Montana got old, Steve Young turned out to be great too. I was like Come on Man! Now, they suck.

          • Yahmule

And stupid Seattle. No team has had more teams just shit the bed against them. Donovan McYorg. Kasay slaming the kickoff out of bounds. Martz locking Faulk in the equipment closet at halftime. Getting myself pissed now.

        • Yahmule

Wow. What a fucking rogue’s gallery. I know it would kill you, but Seattle wouldn’t hurt me that bad. They have no shot. I would happily take the Chiefs over all the other teams listed.

          • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

If you could somehow find a way to move me out of Seattle, I would be on board with that.

          • The 5th Amigo

You can crash on my couch bro

          • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

            Haha! I appreciate it Amigo!

          • DCJ1

Have to disagree on the Chiefs. I’d love nothing more than to see them remain bereft of their founder’s namesake trophy until the heat death of the universe.

          • Yahmule

            I can respect that.

          • Piglet62

Yeah. I guess I am going soft in old age. I detest the Chiefs with a passion, but know so many long-suffering fans who I like, maybe they deserve it after all these years.

        • Kyle Milligan

My guess is your speak for many of us, especially with the first 3, unless one agrees with Yahmule on Seattle.

          • Yahmule

You would really rather see Pittsburgh or Dallas add to their total over KC getting their second and their first in nearly half a century?

          • Kyle Milligan

Maybe I would feel differently after the fact and a chiefs superbowl would not be as insufferable as Dallas or pittsburgh (think fan base).
Something just feels wrong about choosing a division team over any other non division team.

By the way, please don’t look at any of my comments from this season’s opener!

    • FarAwayBroncoFan

I’d love to see a team QB’d by Bortles just dominate Brady and the Pats.

  • Brian

My question is who has the credibility to fire olivo? I don’t think VJ does. I think you have elway call Brock in and ask him to step down. If he refuses you tell vj to fire him. If vj balks, you can them both.

    • Random Anonymous Coward

You don’t need to fire anyone at this point the season is unrecoverable. Let the drama unfold in January.

The locker rooms needs to be reminded this is a business if they want to keep those seats filled tho

      • Piglet62

Well, shooting the special teams coach to encourage the others may well make sense in this particular circumstance. I’m not ordinarily one for scapegoating, but what does the guy actually bring to the table? I suspect the coaching equivalent of “just a guy” would do no worse, maybe better, going forward.

  • Piglet62

This team is not as terrible as their record or some of the recent scores suggest, but now that we are here, they are a lot better off going 4-12 than getting a few bounces down the stretch and ending up at 7-9.

    • DCJ1

Possibly. A mediocre record might make them think they just need tweaks rather than a reboot on offense.

      • Piglet62

Nowhere to hide for Elway at that point. If you are picking 2 or 3, have to hit on a QB, if you are him.

        • RSH

Ugh. The risk involved with a first round quarterback selection really stresses me out.

        • BlackKnigh

I remember the Jets first draft. They drafted Joe Namath with their first pick and John Huarte from Notre Dame with their 2nd pick. Not sure Huarte ever saw the field. That was in the old AFL.

        • Yahmule

I think fourth is the lowest we’re likely to go, but third is possible. No way we’re getting in front of Cleveland or New York, IMO.

          • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

Chargers are doing their damnedest to out suck us, and frankly it pisses me off.

    • The Color Orange

I can no longer tell myself that they aren’t this bad. I’m starting to think they are.

    • ohiobronco

They are worse than thier record indicates. This is not a case of a string of bad bounces. The last 5 games have been over in the 3rd quarter.

  • RSH

I really love this Justin Simmons guy. I am watching him being interviewed right now. He is going to be a really good player and coach or analyst one day.

    • Yahmule

He was dropping some big hits out there tonight.

  • Yahmule

Well, the bright side is this coming draft is loaded in the positions where we need the most help. Three teams could pick quarterbacks before we do, but I don’t think they all will. If they do, we can move down or draft Mike McGlinchey, Trey Adams or Quenton Nelson and suddenly our line is better than average with a chance to be very good. Many good arms will be available in the 38 range.

    • Royalwithcheese

If Cinci and Indy hadn’t blown leads today, they’d be picking fourth. Wow.

      • Yahmule

If they finish 6-10, which seems very possible, they should pick no worse than 10th.

    • Yahmule

They have a mock draft connected to this that has us taking Orlando Brown sixth overall. I would hate that pick so much.

  • Yahmule

The rest of the schedule has some pretty bad teams. They’re going to have to get creative not to go at least 2-1 during that @MIA-NYJ-@IND stretch.

    CIN
    @OAK
    @MIA
    NYJ
    @IND
    @WAS
    KC

    • RSH

I just text messaged my brother this: We do play some mediocre and bad teams coming up, but unfortunately, I am becoming concerned that we are a bad team, too. If we can rally from this and stop shooting ourselves in the foot, I will be elated.

      • Yahmule

I think 4-3 is doable. 3-4 is more likely.

      • Rob Rooney

This is looking like a good year to move up on the season ticket list!

I think we will go 2-2 over the next 4 games. I don’t think we lose to Cinci and can beat one of the next three teams, maybe two of them. I can see 6-10 for the year.

    • ohiobronco

There are 3 losses and 4 tossups in that stretch. So 2-5 and 5-11 overall is probably the baseline expectation.

  • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey
    • Yahmule

“It’s not bad preparation. Preparation is the last issue we have. We practice so hard. We study hard. We watch extra film. We’re doing everything we possibly can.”

Pretty stark contrast to the anonymous rip jobs Ben McAdoo is getting in New York. Kind of takes the credibility out of the Vance Joseph is in too deep takes from the Twitterati.

      • WhoShotBobbyHumphrey

I just don’t think that it’s one thing that’s wrong, I think it’s a lot of things that are wrong.

Our biggest problems are as follows:
        Bad Oline play
        Bad QB play
        Can’t cover TE’s
        Can’t Cover HB’s
        Poor special teams
        Bad Coaching.

Can all of these things to be fixed in one year? Maybe. Stranger shit has happened, but John Elway has a big-time “Cup Check”coming up, and I’m curious to see how he responds.
