Week 1 Preview: Panthers at Broncos, Part Deux

Earlier I posted my thoughts on the Broncos’ offense vs. the Panthers’ defense in anticipation of tomorrow night’s game. Now it’s time to take a look at what to expect when Carolina has the ball, as well as a brief thought about special teams. Just like in the first installment we’ll look at personnel, key matchups and schemes for both squads. Let’s get to it.

Week 1 Preview: Panthers at Broncos

Good morning, Broncos fans! With tomorrow’s game dominating our thoughts, I thought it would be nice to post a preview of the game to generate some discussion. We’ve heard plenty about what the national pundits have to say, but let’s try to come to our own conclusions with a little deeper dive into personnel, key matchups and schemes. I’m going to split this preview into two parts, beginning with the Broncos’ offense vs. the Panthers’ defense.

The QB Nonsense Rankings (With Apologies to Mike Tanier)

In years past, one of our favorite writers, Mike Tanier, put together his Quarterback Nonsense Index, in which he evaluated the storylines that surrounded each team’s quarterback or QB situation and just how ridiculous the debates or narratives had become.

Tanier has not yet put one together this year, but fear not, my friends. I am going to attempt to put together my own version of Quarterback Nonsense, but I call mine the Quarterback Nonsense Rankings, because I need to make it look like I am doing things differently from the way Tanier does things, just in case he’s kept his own Index under wraps in preparation to unleash it upon everyone without a moment’s notice!

2016 NFL Season Predictions

The offseason is now over.  Free agency, the draft, training camp, preseason, roster cuts…all seen clearer in the rearviewmirror.  It’s time to put all that work to the test and play some football.

So if you wish, it’s time to put your predictions on the table.  And I’ve found a handy tool to do it: the NFL Playoff Predictor.  Be forewarned that there are still some bugs in it that you may have to account for in your own writing.  However, there are three things that I like about this:

  1. It allows you to pick all 256 games, forcing you to actually show how you got each team to the record you’ve predicted for them.
  2. The usability is excellent: just click on winners and move on to the next week.
  3. It generates a URL that you can share your prediction with easily.

So for those interested, pick the games and copy and paste your URL here before the Super Bowl champion Broncos take the field on Thursday!
