Upcoming Thin Air Series For The 2017 Offseason

With minicamps largely closing today, the NFL will go into even deeper hibernation for several weeks–thus necessitating the need for some new material to pass away the time.

I hope readers enjoyed The Case For The Broncos Ring Of Fame series.  Its conclusion yesterday demonstrates that Peyton Manning, Ed McCaffrey, Al Wilson, and Steve “Greek” Antonopulos should be first in line for the recognition. We shall see if the committee agrees in the future.

Two more series shall follow in this dead zone. The first series, scheduled for June 19-30, is an idea credited to Bryan Anthony Davis of the Steelers’ SB Nation site Behind The Steel Curtain. We will Rate The Hate by choosing our most disliked team in each division in the NFL–and then face off those “winners” (including two from the AFC West) in a final battle.

We’ll take a break from scheduled content during the week of July 4 (but you are always encouraged to write something at any time!) and then from July 10-21 we’ll take a ten part look at what to look for in training camp by the following positions: QB, RB, WR, TE, OL, interior DL, edge rusher, ILB, S, and CB.

Hope that you’ll enjoy!

*Hey, this is one of the rare time where “Bronco’s” is grammatically correct!

The Case For The Broncos Ring Of Fame: Closing Preliminary Votes

Per the suggestions of the readers (plus a name I thought of that’s borderline cheating because he’s still with the Broncos but you’ll tell that making an exception here can at least be argued)  I am putting up nine more polls for notable Broncos regarding consideration toward the Ring of Fame.  I will not be writing lengthy cases for or against any of them, but please feel free to make your own cases for or against any of them in the comments.

Once this session of voting has concluded, this should give us an even 30 names that were considered. I will tabulate the votes for all of the Broncos brought into question, and we can conduct some analysis of what was discovered.  Then, perhaps we can proceed with other steps.

You may find the polls beyond the fold. Continue reading The Case For The Broncos Ring Of Fame: Closing Preliminary Votes

The 10 Most Underrated Broncos Of All Time

Mike Tanier recently shared his list of the most underrated players in NFL history. As you might suspect, a Denver Bronco player did make the list, that being cornerback Louis Wright.

Meanwhile, Tanier mentioned others who have Hall of Fame worthy resumes but get overlooked, from Randy Gradishar to Karl Mecklenburg, from Tom Nalen to Steve Atwater (though Atwater has gained traction in recent years by being named a finalist).

But it’s not just Hall of Fame voters who overlook Bronco players because of the teams they happened to play on. Broncos fans themselves are often guilty of overlooking certain players on their favorite team, in terms of the impact they had. Those reasons can range from teammates who fans argue should be in the Pro Football Hall of Fame to players who fans have a hard time putting their careers into perspective.
