Jim Armstrong, formerly of The Denver Post, has resurfaced with an in-depth piece on CBSSports.com that revisits the 2004 blockbuster trade between Denver and Washington, in which the Broncos swapped Clinton Portis for Champ Bailey.
The trade for Bailey was one of Mike Shanahan’s best personnel moves during his Broncos’ tenure. It is fun to imagine, however, what type of numbers Portis would have amassed had he been a Bronco his entire career. This video montage exemplifies just how electric Portis was in the Shanahan-Gary Kubiak offensive scheme.
