Who Will Be Leaving the AFC West? The Chargers or the Raiders?

Carson Land Deal Closes For Shared Chargers-Raiders Stadium

One day after San Diego officials unveiled a financial plan aimed at keeping the Chargers in town, the team and the Oakland Raiders Tuesday completed a complex land transaction for 157 acres in the Los Angeles suburb of Carson, where they are proposing a joint stadium. Mark Fabiani, the Chargers’ general counsel on stadium issues, told City News Service the transaction “that would enable the Chargers-Raiders joint venture to build an L.A. NFL stadium in Carson has officially closed this morning.”

PFF: We Heart Harris, Miller

Chris Harris and Von Miller ranked in the top 10 of Pro Football Focus’ top 101 players of 2015:

Coming so quickly off the back of a torn ACL, Harris’ season was scarcely believable. A positive grade in every single game, a season passer rating allowed below 50, no touchdowns allowed and less than 400 yards conceded on more than 700 coverage snaps. Throw in that he covered the slot for more than 250 snaps and Harris’ season is all the more remarkable.

PFF has more about what a great find Harris has been for the Broncos.

As for Miller, well…

Just another season of excellence as we have come to expect from Miller. Back on a full 16-game schedule, Miller recorded 74 total pressures, the second-best season of his short career in that regard. More than just a pure pass rusher, Miller continues to put his immense physical talents to good use in run defense, earning a grade above +20.0 in that area for the fourth straight season.

Here is more from PFF about Miller’s 2014 season.

John Lynch: Gary Kubiak’s 2005 departure hurt the Broncos

“I just felt like, and looking back I’ll always feel like we were never quite the same after Gary (Kubiak) left,” former Denver safety Jon Lynch said. “I think (then-head coach) Mike (Shanahan) didn’t feel the same, have the same confidence in how we were doing things. I think Gary was just, beyond what a great football mind, was somebody who just knew how to help push a team along.”

Let’s Discuss the 2011 and 2012 Draft Classes

I keep my own blog and recently did two separate posts, one about how I evaluate draft picks, and the other in which I used that criteria to evaluate the Broncos 2011 and 2012 draft classes.

Thought it would be good to discuss what people here thought of the draft classes. Specific questions for everyone:

1. How would you grade the overall 2011 draft class?
2. How would you grade the overall 2012 draft class?
3. Which draft pick in those classes do you consider the best value pick?
4. How would you currently evaluate the selection of Brock Osweiler? How would you change your evaluation depending on what he does in the future?

Most Broncos Draft Picks Have Now Signed

Sambrailo is the highest-drafted player of the Broncos to have signed. Also signed to deals, per Renck and Jeff Legwold the past few days: 4th-round pick Max Garcia, 5th-round pick Lorenzo Doss, 6th-round pick Darius Kilgo, and 7th-round picks Trevor Siemian, Taurean Nixon, and Josh Furman.

The only draft picks who remain unsigned are 1st-round pick Shane Ray and 3rd-round pick Jeff Heuerman. Given how quickly the other picks have signed, though, it wouldn’t be surprising to see them agree to deals fairly soon

And per Renck, Heureman’s season-ending ACL injury won’t change anything… he will get a deal done, just as Dante Fowler Jr. did with the Jaguars.

Pat Bowlen Named to Broncos Ring of Fame

Denver Broncos owner Pat Bowlen will be inducted into the Broncos Ring of Fame.

Team owner Pat Bowlen has been elected into the Broncos’ Ring of Fame this year as the 28th member of the group, the team announced on Wednesday following the club’s annual selection committee meeting. His addition will be made official at halftime during the Broncos’ Week 8 game against the Packers on November 1.

I think we can all agree that Pat Bowlen is most deserving of this honor. Congratulations!
