We went into halftime with a 7-6 lead, but 4 turnovers. After one offensive series, we saw the return of Peyton Manning come in. I wasn’t comfortable with the decision as I knew he wasn’t 100% from his injury recovery, but I’m glad his management changed the pacing of the game. Brock Osweiler was getting fooled consistently by the Chargers’ defense, which opened up to one fumble turnover and an interception. Regardless, I think either quarterback could’ve led us to a victory and I’m glad we got the #1 seed spot. Who expected the Dolphins to beat the Patriots!?
What I’m concerned about in the playoffs is that we haven’t played a full game on both offense and defense since December 6th. We either play one half or the other half, and either offense or defense shows up. We need to play both halves where both the offense and defense are full force if we want to win in the playoffs.
10 Things I Liked:
- Brock Osweiler threw for 222 yards in one half (232 total)
- 6.6 average yards per rush
- Our defense had 8 tackles for a loss of yards
- We forced 3 fumbles, but unfortunately recovered none
- CB Bradley Roby made very large plays
- Replacing RT Michael Schofield with Tyler Polumbus was a great move
- Only 3 points scored against following the first 4 turnovers
- S Shiloh Keo’s timely interception saved the day
- The Sheriff (Peyton Manning) returned without missing a beat
- We clinched #1 seed
10 Things I Didn’t Like:
- 5 turnovers, 4 of them in the first half
- Considering how many injuries the Charges faced, it should’ve been a blowout
- Lost all 3 fumbles
- The Chargers held the ball 10 minutes longer than we did
- RT Michael Schofield got slaughtered yet again
- WR Danny Woodhead was open too frequently
- CB Aqib Talib’s blown coverage that led to a 80-yard touchdown by Tyrell Williams
- That one hit on Peyton Manning made me cringe
- Our defense allowed two first downs on penalties
- Five third down conversions out of eleven attempts
Bonus: The #1 seed money play
