In two moves today, the Denver Broncos placed nose tackle Marvin Austin on injured reserve and claimed tight end Jake Murphy off waivers.
Following an underwhelming and injury plagued career, Austin had a tremendous 2014 training camp, which ultimately landed him a roster spot. Austin was injured early in this year’s training camp, and his NFL career may be over.
Murphy played tight end at the University of Utah. Murphy has had brief stints with the Cincinnati Bengals, Oakland Raiders and Miami Dolphins. Murphy is listed at 6’4 and 252 pounds. Murphy will compete with Dominique Jones and Marcel Jensen for the third tight end spot. Murphy is the son of MLB great, Dale Murphy.
