Brads NFL Picks Week Five 2016
Brads Picks was 9-6 last week and is 35 – 28 on the season. Here’s the good, bad and ugly from last week. (Philadelphia and Green Bay were off last week.)
the good:
Cincinnati 22, Dolphins 7 (the TNF game) – A short week and the home team won.
Jacksonville (London) 30, Colts 27 – Jags 23, Colts 6 at the end of 3, but then the Colts rallied in the 4th and won that quarter 21-7. Fun game for the Brits.
Washington 31, Browns 20 – Browns are the only winless team in the league.
Atlanta 48, Panthers 33 – Falcons WR Julio Jones had 300 yards on 12 receptions. This was just a week after he was held to one reception in New Orleans.

Houston 27, Titans 20 – Rookie WR Will Fuller (1st round, Notre Dame) returned a punt 67 yards with less than a minute in the game for the winning score.
Cowboys 24, San Francisco 17 – There were as many or more Dallas fans in attendance at Levi Stadium as Niners fans.
Pittsburgh 43, Chiefs 14 (SNF) – Steelers bounced back from their drubbing in Philadelphia a week ago. And it wasn’t this close – Chiefs scored a TD as time was running out.
Broncos 27, Tampa Bay 7 – Tampa jumped out to a 7 – 0 lead.
Minnesota 24, Giants 10 (MNF) – Vikings defense made Odell Beckham and Eli Manning look inept.
the bad:
Saints 35, San Diego 34 – Drew Brees’ first game in San Diego since 2005, after which the Chargers let him go in free agency.
Chicago 17, Lions 14 – Brian Hoyer threw two TD passes for the Bears, with no INTs. Will Jay Cutler get his job back wheb he’s ready? John Fox ain’t saying.
Raiders 28, Baltimore 27 – A 23 yard TD pass from Derek Carr to Michael Crabtree with 2 minutes to go gave the Raiders the win.
Rams 17, Arizona 13 – Carson Palmer got knocked out of the game with a concussion but it was a 47 yard punt return that set up a 4 yard TD pass from Case Keebun with two minutes left that gave the Rams the win.
the ugly:
Bills 16, New England 0 – Everyone but Cheatriots fans love this. First shutout at Foxboro sine 1995.
Seaqwacks 27, New York Jets 17 – Ryan Fitzpatrick cut his weekly INT number in half, from 6 a week ago at Arrowhead to 3, which is still 3 too many.
this weeks games: off this week: Jacksonville, Kansas City, New Orleans, Seattle .
the TNF game:
Arizona (1-3) at San Francisco (1-3) – Division game. Carson Palmer is out with a concussion. Blaine Gabbert has the 3rd worst QB rating in the league. Carson Palmer is out with a concussion so Drew Stanton will start for the Cardinals. Both teams were home last week and it’s not a huge trip for the Cards. Stanton is a good QB and I think the Cardinalscan win it,
the 11:00 MDT games:
New England (3-1) at Cleveland (0-4) – Tom Brady rejoins the Cheaters after a four game suspension for cheating. Gotta go with the Cheaters although the Browns aren’t as bad as the record indicates. They have a good run game – RB Isaiah Crowell is on pace for 1,576 yards this season
Philadelphia (3-0) at Detroit (1-3) – Eagles are off a bye. Eagles rookie QB Carson Wentz is the talk of the league. He’s thrown 5 TDs with 0 INTs. Lions couldn’t even beat the Bears last week – their offense managed just 8 points.. Eagles won at Chicago in Week Two 29 – 14.
Chicago (1-3) at Indianapolis (1-3) – Colts lost in London last week. Usually the teams that play there get a bye the next week (Jags are off this week). Bears managed a win at home against the Lions. I’m expecting that Brian Hoyer will start Close call here. Take theColts at home and hope they’re over their travel fatigue.
Tennessee (1-3) at Miami (1-3) – Miami is off a mini bye. The game may get moved to Nashville, depending on Hurricane Matthew. Regardless, I’m taking the Titans. Dolphins just don’t seem to be in sync under their new HC Adam Gase. And the T’s have a good run game with DeMarco Murray, which could be a good thing if the game is played in a rainy Miami. Or a dry Nashville.
Houston (3-1) at Minnesota (4-0) – Vikings defense is crushing people. And Sam Bradford is fitting in nicely with the offense.
New York Jets (1-3) at Pittsburgh (3-1) – Ryan Fitzpatrick has thrown 13 INTs in his last 5 games. Steelers win.
Washington (2-2) at Baltimore (3-1) – This is going to be a close game. Take Baltimore.
the 2:05 MDT game:
Atlanta (3-1) at Denver (4-0) – Atlanta has a great offense, at least against weak opponents (Tampa, Oakland, New Orleans, Panthers -combined record of 6-10). But their defense has been pretty bad, especially in the secondary. Broncos have been killers in the second half and the Falcons don’t stand a chance at Mile High. Rookie QB Paxton Lynch may start as Trevor Siemian is still nursing a sore shoulder. Lynch did quite well last week coming in for Siemian.
the 2:25 MDT games:
Cincinnati (2-2) at Dallas (3-1) – Cincinnati is off a mini bye while the Boys played in San Francisco. Both teams won their last game. Dez Bryant will likely miss another game. Hard to call this. But let’s go with Dallas – they’ve outscored their oppo this year by 24 while the Bengals have been outscored by 4.
Buffalo (2-2) at Los Angeles (3-1) – Check the points scored vs points scored against. Rams have scored 63 but given up 76. Bills have scored 87 while giving up 68. Rams haven’t generated much of a run game – Todd Gurley, who averaed 4.8 last year is just getting 2.6 this year. I suppose the oppo is concentrating on him so that helps the pass game. Still, the Rams are doing it on defense and I’ll pick them here – the Bills are maybe still thinking about last week’s shutout in Foxboro.
San Diego (1-3) at Oakland (3-1) – Division game. Taking Oakland.
the SNF game:
NY Giants (2-2) at Green Bay (2-1) – Giants played on the road last Monday night at Minnesota while Green Bay enjoyed a week off. That just ain’t fair.
the MNF game:
Tampa Bay (1-3) at Carolina (1-3) – Division game. Cam Newton suffered a concussion last week while showboating into the end zone. But Derek Anderson is a good back up QB. I’ll take Carolina – probably the better team overall, although they haven’t shown it yet.
