The first half was another pathetic display where I honestly thought this game was going to continue what we saw in the second half against the Steelers. I was pleasantly surprised that we went to a no-huddle format in the second half and started a majority of plays in shotgun and pistol formations. This allowed Brock just a second or two more to throw, because our offensive line was getting manhandled the entire game.
10 Things I Liked:
- Despite a poor first half, the defense held the Bengals offense to under 300 yards with 294
- Overcoming a 14-point deficit
- Only 3 points allowed in the second half
- RB Ronnie Hillman saw 24 of his 35 total yards come after contact
- ILB Danny Trevathan had 10 solo tackles and 12 total tackles
- QB Brock Osweiler threw for 277 yards and 1 touchdown
- Our offense gained 4 first downs from penalties
- Punter Britton Colquitt punted 3 balls within the 20
- On four punts, we allowed Brandon Tate to return a total of 8 yards
- 6 tackles for a loss on defense
10 Things I Didn’t Like:
- The entire first half
- RT Michael Schofield
- 3 sacks allowed with a loss of 22 yards
- RB CJ Anderson’s fumble
- Defense struggled stopping RB Jeremy Hill on first down
- The Bengals had the ball for 37:28
- Our redzone offense still needs work, we went 1 for 3 in scoring within the redzone
- Our defense was 0% on allowing a score in the redzone
- The Bengals’ offense was 10 out of 17 on third down conversions
- Allowing the dozen tight catches along the sidelines
