Interesting to read Watson talking about his game-starting sack. http://www.denverbroncos.com/news-and-blogs/article-nextdaynotebook/Next-Day-Notebook-Menelik-Watson-learns-tough-lesson/ddb6420f-f31d-4544-8b23-986df9527fee
This drives me crazy. He seriously didn’t know how to correctly block on that play? What has he been working on in training camp?
Video games ?
In case anyone missed it from last night, a link to the full condensed replay of the game.
Wow, cool! Curious, (before I download) does it have the first plays that Channel 9 missed?
And as a follow-up, does anyone know if the local Chicago crew used their own cameras, or did both team’s crews use the same feed?
It misses the sack, but has the other two plays including the 3rd and 11 conversion to DT
On a side note the production was pretty shitty. Missing 1 play is maybe forgivable, but 3 plays is ridiculous.
Theres also numerous errors with the scoreboard, where they display 1st and 5 when it’s really second and 5 or say it’s the first quarter when it’s really the 2nd.
They also started some plays with weird camera angles and then shifted right before the snap. It was amateur hour at times.
NFLN had the Chicago broadcast. Didn’t miss any plays as far as I could tell.
You da man!
Jason La Canfora with a nice dressing down of Jerrah.
That was a good read. Thanks.
Nelson Adams is a 285 pound DL that didn’t make it all the way through the Steelers’ training camp as a rookie, and was out of football in 2017.
I’m sure he’s better than Jared Odrick. 🙄
Take one letter away…
I think I’d rather have Vance Walker.
Some intel on Adams. http://www.steelersdepot.com/2017/05/2017-udfa-reports-mississippi-state-de-nelson-adams/
Thanks, I was wondering about that. Seems like a project rather than a quick solution.
Part of me wonders if, with Wolfe also going down today, he doesn’t get the boot right away for a more experienced option. Depends on Wolfe’s exact prognosis, I guess.
I had a feeling that something bad had happened at training camp, so I came to Thin Air and almost immediately saw this. 🙁
Now they really need Vance Walker.
Now we know this season is fucked. Maybe they should go with Paxton. Ha!
This is fucking awful. Per NFL, “Wolfe was unable to put pressure on his right leg while being helped to the cart.”
Hoping for the best..
It always was, but now it’s extra-hilarious that they traded a 3rd and 4th to move up to get him. Incidentally, the Chiefs were the ones to benefit from their braindeadness, but they also used Tampa Bay’s 3rd to select KeiVarae Russell out of Notre Dame at #74, who was waived after their first regular season game.
I always felt that was a very bad pick, but I didn’t think it’d be this bad.
There is basically no upside to taking a kicker that early.
Ping— pong… Schofield with the 2s st RT Stephenson with the 1s… Watson moving slow at beginning of practice
It’s almost like Watson can’t stay healthy and Steph sucks. Who knew?
Whose going to help crown the league leader in sacks this year? Could be any one of them.
Our RT situation all but guarantees Mack DPOTY. Doh.
Watson for sure
Schofield has the highest PFF of the current oline man in pass pro
We might need Bob to talk us off the ledge again after Wolfe…
Seriously can they just end this practice already?
This is worse than nuclear war with North Korea.
I agree. And I live in a place they could hit.
Austin Powers: There are only two things in this world that scare me and one is nuclear war.
Basil: What’s the other?
Austin Powers: Huh?
Basil: What’s the other thing that scares you?
Austin Powers: Carnies. Circus folk. Nomads, you know. Smell like cabbage. Small hands.
Confirmation from VJ. Hope it’s true.
Sure hope so. If it’s a high ankle, still may miss a few real games. Guess we’ll keep following.
True, a high ankle sprain would still suck but better than most outcomes and would mean missing 4 regular season games max.
What’s the context?
I bet Rex Ryan brings up this picture during the opener.
Siemian needs to tell him to hit the pool with a tablet and his helmet on, just like he and Manning did.
I will be very surprised if he is ready week one. Guessing more like week 4.
Man these dudes need different cleats and to tell everyone else not to wear those cleats. https://twitter.com/JosinaAnderson/status/896473698886193153
This is why I hate this time of year, preseason, where you are mostly holding your breath about injuries, far above even wondering about who is playing well. Our DL is taking some hits so wouldn’t be surprised to see some moves made soon, but for most of them (other than Winn)… they coulda been worse, too. 😵
And now it’s Springtime for Hitler and Germany,
Winter for Poland and France…..
Damien Woody had a pretty woke thread this morning.
He’s referencing a different receiver here, but…
Not a good thing, obviously, but there could be a silver lining here in that he was struggling per most reports (and from what we saw against the Bears, but that could have been because of the injury), but obviously we couldn’t just cut him even if he’s below others on the depth chart. He was well on the way to being a gameday inactive, anyway. If he is indeed IRed, that opens up the WR glut a little bit.
You just can’t afford to have 3rd rd. receivers/KR inactive… that’s a drafting problem, again if it would have played out in that manner.
Which of the ten did he hurt?
Can’t believe I’m saying this… but Hackenberg is throwing accurate darts. All less than 10 yards though. Should be 10/10 right now (had 2 drops).
Which stringers is he against?
2nd and 3rd. Make no mistake, he doesn’t look like starter material yet (staring down receivers etc.), but in terms of accuracy, he hasn’t been awful.
Here’s what my favorite Jets fan just said:
So I’m going back to the start to watch this. Gamepass is using the Titans’ coverage, and they had a quick segment on Decker, who has apparently caught 4 touchdowns against the Titans.
Impressions through the first ~20 minutes:
-Still don’t know about Mariota. Had a good pass on a sprint-out to the right, then held the ball for a sack, scrambled for a ~2 yard gain on 3rd and 17 or so, and threw a pass badly behind Walker that went in and out of Skrine’s hands — should have been an easy INT
-Titans still playing that 10 yard cushion zone coverage that LeBeau loves. McCown also burned them for a deep reception.
-Decker with the OPI
-Hackenburg is zipping it, but he’s throwing to very open guys
-The chagrin on this guy after the Jets missed a 55-yard FG
Mariota started slowly last year and then had an eight game stretch where he outplayed everybody. With that line and the added weapons, I think he’s going to have an impressive season.
What were your overall impressions of Decker? Can he still run?
Hard to say on Decker, since he wasn’t targeted and they didn’t show any replays of him downfield, either. He looked as fast off the line as I remember, but that’s about all I can say. Also, when the Titans were still audibling and rearranging the formation, Decker started doing the “hurry it up” hand gesture shortly before the playclock ran out, and it looked like he was their only player who had a clue (they ended up not even being close to snapping the ball before the delay of game).
Wouldn’t it be the shit if Hack starts more career games than Lynch? Of course, it might be that one of the other five QBs (three, sir!) three QBs is better than Lynch, and the Jets are gonna Jet.
Cooper Kupp just made the first of what will likely be countless heads up hustle plays. Hard to believe the Rams haven’t traded him to New England already.
I’m EWU alum was happy to see them bring Watkins in and take some pressure off him. Was damn sure he was going to be a patriot glad it didn’t go that way.
Meanwhile Mahomes looked very good. Damn.
Trumaine Johnson still runs pretty well with money spilling out of his asshole.
